Utah Youth Work to Protect State's Natural Resources

Utah Conservation Corps workers hard at work.

This summer has been a busy one for young people working on public lands projects in Utah. Hundreds of them get jobs with the Youth Conservation Corps, headquartered at Utah State University. They maintain trails, restore wildlife habitat, rip out invasive species - and keep at it as long as weather permits. For some, says director Sean Damitz, it's their first outdoor experience and their first job - and there are lessons just as important as the hard work.

Roberto Roman Acquitted of Murder Charges

Earlier in August Roberto Roman was acquitted of the murder of Sheriff's Deputy Josie Greathouse Fox. Fox was shot to death during a traffic stop in 2010. Roman claims that Fox’s brother, Ryan Greathouse, was in fact the shooter. Greathouse died four months after the murder of a drug overdose. The acquittal has sparked controversy over the jurors’ deliberations, particularly after comments made by jurors to the media. Thursday on Access Utah, Salt Lake Tribune reporter Aaron Falk said several jurors were impressed by Roman’s testimony.

Everyone loves to hear a good story, so it's no wonder why the Timpanogos Storytelling Festival has been a huge success for the past 23 years.

What started with humble beginnings of a handful of people in an Orem home, the festival now finds itself nestled in Provo Canyon at Mount Timpanogos Park, attracting 26,000 visitors from Utah and around the world.

Governor Herbert on Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney

As a proclaimed member of the same religion practiced by the Republican candidate for president, Mitt Romney, Utah Governor Gary Herbert has had ample opportunity to answer questions about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints during this week's National GOP Convention.

Herbert was a councilman in Salt Lake City when Romney was there for the Olympics, and during his time in Tampa, the Governor has worked to persuade delegates to focus on Romney's ability to manage -- a message he says is more important than Romney's ability to socialize.
