Odyssey House Teams with Momentum Recycling

Salt Lake City’s Momentum Recycling has teamed up with the Odyssey House, a local nonprofit that helps people recover from substance abuse, to help staff its new glass recycling facility near the airport. The partnership will offer Odyssey’s clients a chance to get workforce training and build a resume. John Lair, President and CEO of Momentum Recycling says working at his plant can be dirty, hot, loud and sometimes smelly, but it’s a great opportunity for people trying to rebuild their lives.

Peter Cooke Stops By USU on Campaign Trail

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Peter Cooke was in Logan for a town hall meeting on Monday night.

A retired General and USU alumnus, Cooke stopped by the Utah State campus on Monday for a town hall meeting with students and community members. The candidate for governor was asked about his positions on a wide range of Utah issues, from air quality to concerns about Hill Air Force Base.

USU College Democrats president Briana Bowen thinks the event was a good way for voters to get to know Cooke.

2,977 September 11th Victims Remembered with Flags

Utah State’s College Republicans arranged a unique display on campus Tuesday memorializing September 11th. 2,977 miniature flags were clustered neatly in the grass on Tuesday as a tribute to each victim of the September 11th terrorist attacks.

USU College Republicans president Casey Saxton says it’s as important as ever to remember the events of that day.

After Cancer: Utah Department of Health Studies Survivors

More people are surviving cancer in Utah, but new data released by the Utah Department of Health show cancer survivors are experiencing more chronic diseases than those without cancer. Utah Cancer Control Program Epidemiologist Meghan Balough says the data comes from the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System Survey, which is part of a 5-year plan to combat cancer in Utah.
