Bill Would Require Drug Test for Utahns on Welfare

Some welfare recipients may be required to undergo drug tests to qualify for benefits under a bill that has passed the house. Republican Representative Brad Wilson of Kaysville explained last week that anyone who fails a drug test could enroll in a treatment program to avoid losing their benefits. Mackinzie Hamilton has more about the bill.

Olene Walker Housing Fund Saves Utahns from Homelessness

Utah faces a shortage of affordable housing for low-income households, but the Olene Walker Housing Fund has managed to help keep thousands of Utahns from being homeless. The Fund has also managed to keep off the federal housing cuts chopping block. Gordon Walker, State Director Housing and Community Development discussed the Olene Walker Fund at an affordable housing press conference yesterday.
